From a small family-run business in the 1920s, the company has grown to become a significant global player in the maritime industry while still respecting the family values. Our culture of inclusion and diversity allows us to leverage teamwork, innovation and sustainable growth.

Headed by the third generation of the Moundreas family, our professional team consists of naval architects, maritime engineers and business managers, as well as experts in brokering, finance, shipping, communication and sales. Our cross functional team works closely with our clients on every project, walking them through a holistic methodology to help them achieve their business goals.

Top Management

George Moundreas was born in Piraeus in 1942. He graduated in 1965 from the National technical University of Athens with a degree in marine engineering and naval architecture. In 1966 he joined the family business, then called G.M. Moundreas & Bros, working in the sales and purchase of vessels, as well as in newbuilding contracting and chartering. In 1974 he established George Moundreas & Co., the shipping services company that is the successor of G.M. Moundreas & Bros. George Moundreas has been president of the company ever since and has overseen its transition to a key maritime player on the Greek and international arenas. In the meantime, between 1974 and 1983, he was also the president and CEO of another company he had founded, namely Med Transport and Trading Corp SA (managers and owners of six handy b/cs). It is worth noting that George Moundreas personally contributed to the introduction of the Chinese ship repairs and shipbuilding industry to the Greek market.

Pavlos Moundreas holds a BSc degree in Marketing Management from the American College of Greece, a double major in Sociology and a Master of Science in Commercial Operation of Ships from Guildhall University in London, UK. He has been working in the shipbroking and related businesses of the Moundreas Group since 1994. From 2000 to 2005 he was the Manager of the Sale & Purchase Department, in 2005 he became the Director of the company and in 2008 he became Vice President of George Moundreas & Co. Armed with many years of experience in the industry and having contributed to the company’s success, in 2017 Pavlos Moundreas became CEO, a position he still holds today.

Vagelis Moutafis studied Shipping & Trading at Athens SBE college and certified in executive Coaching by the University of Athens (UoA) in 2020. He has been a competitive Sale & Purchase shipbroker since 1994, founder of the shipbroking company “Intertrade Marine Co S.A.” and co-founder of “Shiptrade Services S.A.”, and “Liamar S.A.”. Vagelis played an instrumental role starting up and leading the S&P department of “McQuilling (Hellas) Ltd”, “Tryton Shipbroking S.A.” and “Panorm Integrated Shipping”. With the managerial skills and knowledge obtained during his career in shipping, joined “George Moundreas & Co.” in May 2018 and took over the duties of Sales Director in April 2019.

Sotiris, being an entrepreneur, has been engaged in a variety of businesses over the past 30 years. In his early years he started his career in the music industry and at the same time was involved in financial investments, with the Greek and American stock exchange.His following venture was in exclusive construction projects and real estate, mostly targeted to foreign investors. While in construction he was also an active shareholder in shipping.Today, Sotiris works in the family business, George Moundreas & Company S.A. in the Sales and Purchase Division, managing a wide portfolio of clients. Furthermore, due to his extensive and varied social and professional network, he has been active in the business development of the company.

Evi Tsaroucha holds an Undergraduate Program of Studies (UPS) in Economic Sciences (ECO) from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, as well as a Master of Science (MSc) with honors in Maritime Studies form the University of Piraeus and she is a member of WISTA Hellas. She joined “George Moundreas & Co.” in 2016 and has been a shipbroker in the sale and purchase of vessels since 2017.

Danae Bati holds a Bachelor of Science in Maritime Economics and a Master of Science with honors in Logistics & Supply Chain Management from the University of Piraeus and from the National Technical University of Athens. She also holds a Diploma in Dry Cargo Chartering from the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. Armed with a solid education in the field, Danae joined the Newbuilding Department of George Moundreas & Co. in 2007. Today she is an integral part within the team of the company’s Sale & Purchase Department.

Thomas Anagnostou is a Mechanical Engineer. He graduated from the National Technical University of Athens at 2017 and he is a member of the Greek Technical Chamber (TEE). Christos Karaindros is a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Science from Newcastle Upon Tyne University in the UK, as well as an MBA from ALBA Graduate School in Athens. He is a member of the English Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMaREST), a Member of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects (RINA), and a Member of Greek Technical Chamber (TEE). Christos has been working with the company’s Repairs & Conversion department since 2003. He came to Moundreas & Co. with 11 years of experience, with previous positions as technical superintendent, project coordinator, new-buildings supervisor/site manager, and independent technical consultant.

Ioannis Matsoukas is a naval architect and marine engineer. He graduated from the National Technical University of Athens and is a member of the Greek Technical Chamber, having also trained with the American Bureau of Shipping and as a marine surveyor. Yiannis then gained solid shipping experience with one of the largest ship repair companies in Greece, as well as through a marine consulting company where he focused on hull inspections, cruise vessel surveys and ultrasonic thickness measurement (UTM). He has been working with Moundreas & Co. as a broker since 2008, bringing with him valuable insight to the company’s existing wealth of knowledge.

Vassilis Chionis holds a Master of Science in Maritime Operations and a Bachelor of Science with honors in Maritime Business and Management from Liverpool John Moores University in the UK. He also qualified for Membership of Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (MICS) in the UK. In terms of past experience, Vassilis had worked for four years in both the technical and operational sides of the industry, in addition to having been employed as a ship repair broker for three years. Since 2008, he has been excelling as a broker within the Repairs & Conversions Department of Moundreas & Co.

Panagiotis Tsirigotis is a Naval Architect who graduated from the Technical Educational Institute of Athens. Before joining Moundreas & Co. he worked for six years in the ship repair industry as UTM surveyor and hull supervisor with one of the oldest marine technical offices in Piraeus. His work involved attending almost 100 ship repairs in various shipyards around the world, preparing specifications after hull condition assessments and calculating steel renewals. He has been an integral part of the ship brokering team in Moundreas & Co. since 2012.

Ioannis has been working with the company’s Repairs & Conversions department since 2013. He came to George Moundreas & Co. with 5 years of experience as technical superintendent, including an experience of numerous drydockings and repairs handled in shipyards worldwide. Also holds experience from working with traditional and reputable technical workshops of Piraeus and technical consulting office.

Aris Sotiropoulos holds an MSc degree in Port and Shipping Management from University of Wales in the UK. He began his career in 1987 and since then established two dynamic chartering departments in Meadway Shipping & Trading Inc and MFS Shipmanagement corp. He spent nine years as Chartering and Operational Manager in the MFS Group before joining Moundreas & Co.

Maritime economist with a background in finance and research and a solid knowledge of international trade and shipping markets. He holds a Master of Science in Shipping, with a major in Chartering, as well as an MBA, with a major in Management and he is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (MICS) having successfully completed the Professional Qualifying Examinations. George has noteworthy experience in conducting primary and evidence-based research in the maritime sector, with a focus on market trends, port operations and shipbuilding, environmental and energy assessment, green technologies and regulations.
