From a small family-run business in the 1920s, the company has grown to become a significant global player in the maritime industry while still respecting the family values. Our culture of inclusion and diversity allows us to leverage teamwork, innovation and sustainable growth.
Headed by the third generation of the Moundreas family, our professional team consists of naval architects, maritime engineers and business managers, as well as experts in brokering, finance, shipping, communication and sales. Our cross functional team works closely with our clients on every project, walking them through a holistic methodology to help them achieve their business goals.
George Moundreas was born in Piraeus in 1942. He graduated in 1965 from the National technical University of Athens with a degree in marine engineering and naval architecture. In 1966 he joined the family business, then called G.M. Moundreas & Bros, working in the sales and purchase of vessels, as well as in newbuilding contracting and chartering. In 1974 he established George Moundreas & Co., the shipping services company that is the successor of G.M. Moundreas & Bros. George Moundreas has been president of the company ever since and has overseen its transition to a key maritime player on the Greek and international arenas. In the meantime, between 1974 and 1983, he was also the president and CEO of another company he had founded, namely Med Transport and Trading Corp SA (managers and owners of six handy b/cs). It is worth noting that George Moundreas personally contributed to the introduction of the Chinese ship repairs and shipbuilding industry to the Greek market.
